Chesterfield Tournament

The Chesterfield Tournament is history and I don't believe anyone is sorry to see it behind us. No video highlights from the weekend because we really did not have many highlights this weekend. We were missing quite a few players and other players that were there were playing out of their normal position or injured. On the positive side the Nike Boys did get a chance to play a few games together and get back into the soccer mode. For the parents it was an interesting weekend. Frigid cold on Saturday morning and shirt sleeves on Sunday afternoon. Billy Shoen took the opportunity over the weekend to school Darren in the finer points of the tactical side of the game. I think playing 5 up top and one in the back may leave us just a wee bit open for a counter attack, but...
There was one injustice I felt over the weekend. The red card given out in the Richmond FC game to Aron Foster. I was next to the Richmond FC parents (and surprisingly was able to restrain myself from saying anything) and in front of the play when it happened. While challenging for the ball the Richmond FC player grabbed Aron by the head and wrestled him to the ground. Aron got up and pushed the Richmond FC player back and ended up with a red card for his trouble.
Still the rule is ... it is always the player that retaliates that gets the penalty. Keep your heads up and keep your composure. On to the Jefferson Cup.
